Becoming a successful journalist is not an easy task, within the various challenges that are faced, one of them is to convince a newspaper or magazine to publish your work.

Pitch is a very important work tool and can open many doors for beginning journalists, so always remember to be objective, list the most important points and leave the reader with a taste for more.

I have a great insight of social trend that I would like to share with you.

Being an immigrant among thousand others in Ireland, made me think why thBeing an immigrant among thousands of others in Ireland, made me think about why the green island is so desired by other nationalities and what makes the country so special.

According to my own experience, I have found Irish people very friendly, welcoming and happy, however, digging deeply into the – young adult – culture I have been asking myself whether the consume of alcohol, drugs, beauty cosmetics, clothing and mainly the exposition of themselves – devouring all of that – in social media sound exaggerated and might be related to another cause.

The high lights:

•          A report called Health at a Glance: Europe from 2018 made by the European Commission says that Ireland has one of highest rates of mental health problems all over EU and that the investment made by the Irish Government is around 8,2 million EUR annul.

•          Another source by European Commission also from 2018 shows that the use of social networking by the whole Irish population is higher than the average of EU (60% against 56%) and that 90% of young adults aged among 16 to 24 years old use some kind of social media.

Some interesting questions:

•          Do the media have influenced people’s idea of happiness? What’s happiness?

•          Why do people struggle with themselves and do not ask for help? Is mental health a taboo in Ireland?
